Youth Ministry is one of the most important foundations to a successful church, community, and lifestyle for those who participate in it.  A successful youth ministry is based and focused on a loving relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is constantly reaching out to others who need help.

We are a Bible based youth ministry with the purpose of sharing the Good News with young people as well as adults everywhere!  We are focused on presenting Christ in a form that allows the youth to understand His love for all and to create a place where they can feel free to learn about and worship the only true and living God.

We intend to build youth of Purpose, Power & Praise by creating an atmosphere that is conducive and comfortable to adolescences.

Through various teaching tools and settings, we will enrich personal development through the ministry of the word, coupled with wholesome and exciting fellowship.

Our objective is to motivate each young person to develop a commitment to God while pursuing success in life.

Some of the more recent ministries that have been birthed out of the youth ministry are:

THE DANCERS OF PRAISE:
The Dancers of Praise is a part of the "No Limit Soldiers for Jesus" youth ministry at The Empowerment Church (TEC). The ministry was originally formed in June 1999 and re-organized in October 2004 for Pastor James L. Swanson's 5th Anniversary Celebration.  Since then, the group has continued to excel and press forward.

The dance ministry was formed because the youth of TEC wanted to have an outlet to express their love for the Lord in their own way. Through this ministry the dancers not only have the opportunity to express their love, but they also minister to others through song in a dramatic and spiritually uplifting way.

The Dancers of Praise currently consist of a small group of five dedicated young adults who enjoy giving God all the glory and honor.

Through God's grace and mercy they will continue to focus on HIS vision and use their body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God (Romans 6:13).

THE MAJESTIC HIGH STEPPERS:
The Majestic High Steppers was formed in May 2002 as an additional outlet for the youth to express their love for the Lord.  Stepping has evolved from the days of slavery when slaves were forced to work in the dark coal mines from sun up to sun down. They provided entertainment to their masters in what was called the African Boot Dance. Today it has become a rite of passage for many of the African-American sororities and fraternities, but it all comes full circle back to the roots of the church.

The Majestic High Steppers feel that Stepping is a ministry that comes from deep within their hearts. It's part of their heritage and their love for the Lord. Through this form of dance ministry, the youth will continue to glorify God and submit themselves in mind, body and spirit to Jesus Christ. "Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing praises to him with tambourine and harp!" (Psalm 149:3).

MIME MINISTRY:
Some people preach, some people sing, we MIME!  Mime Ministry is a silent, yet powerful and dramatic way, to touch the hearts, and souls, while ministering the gospel.  A&J Mime is a ministry that was formed in 2009 that consists of a brother and sister duo who felt the need to communicate the gospel in a different way.  Miming tells a story through creative movements to music.  It is acting out words to songs giving a visual effect. The mime ministry has been a very effective way of communicating the gospel to both young and old.

The youth are also very active in the annual Easter and Christmas plays.  They are determined to live a Christ-centered life before their peers, therefore leading by example.  "We Are the Example"
(1 Timothy 4:12).
